fill in the blank friday

1. If I didn't have to work anymore I would write a novel, go on a bazillion mission trips, and be an advocate for all the things I'm passionate about.

2.  My favorite thing about a vacation is how dysfunctional some of them end of being... my family's quote is: "We put the FUN in dysFUNctional!"  But no, really - here are my favorite things about vacation: suanas, banana daiquiries, excursions, spending money, souveniers, and the quality time spent with those you love!

3.  When packing for a trip I  pack entirely way too much.  It's embarassing.

4.  If I could go on a road trip with anyone (dead OR alive) I would choose  Clay (and the little piggie, Millie) because  I've found someone truly special in him; there is never a dull moment with us; there is absolutely no bickering or sad tears or angry words; and he makes the most beautiful scenery even better looking, and we would go from Key West to Maine on our much-anticipated drive up the Right Coast.  OR on a cross-country road trip to the Golden Gate bridge.  Hey babe, didn't you say you'd drive me through those sunflower fields in Colorado one day?? ;)

5.  My top 3 absolute travel essentials are 1. a journal; 2. a camera; 3. bubble gum

6.  Vacations are awaiting me... I hope.
7.  On vacation you must always  experience the big things, but remember the little things that made those big things so special.  Like Daddy's smile at Kapalua Bay, Mom's humor in Lake Tahoe, and Sissy's spazz moves in a school of fish in St. Thomas.

and always, always, always, take pictures! And don't lose your camera.

peace and love

song on repeat - my girl miranda

"More Like Her"

She's beautiful, in her simple little way.
She don't have too much to say when she gets mad.
She understands, she don't let go of anything.
Even when the pain gets really bad.
I guess I should've been more like that.

You had it all, for a pretty little while.
And somehow you made me smile when I was sad.
You took a chance on a bruised and beaten heart,
And then you realized you wanted what you had.
I guess I should've been more like that.

I should have held on to my pride.
I should have never let you lie.
I guess you got what you deserve.
I guess I should've been more like her.

Forgiving you, she's stronger than I am.
you don't look much like a man from where I'm at,
It's plain to see desperation shown its truth
you love her and she loves you with all she has
I guess I should've been more like that.

I should have held on to my pride.
I should have never let you lie.
I guess you got what you deserve.
I guess I should've been more like her.

She's beautiful, in her simple little way.

-Miranda Lambert

I freaking love her. She's so awesome.
Blake Shelton ADORES her and I want a boy that looks at me that way!
One of the most special people in my life is named Adam Sanford. He took me to
what was supposed to be a weekend of a Coldplay concert and a Kenny Chesney concert (Miranda Lambert/Lady Antebellum) on two different nights in Tampa.
It was this time last year, actually. SO FUN!
Except Chris Martin, Coldplay's lead singer, got the flu and the show couldn't go on.
On the night of the Kenny show (at the Ford Ampitheater in Tampa) it was the biggest rainstorm I've ever seen in my entire life.  But, just in time for MIRANDA, he had a Coors Light in my hand and I was boot scootin' in my Daisy Dukes to what I believe to be
one of the coolest country music girls ever.
If you know me, no matter what kind of feminist activist I can be at times, I'm just not that big on the girls - Shania, Faith, Carrie - none of them do it for the way she does.
I think she's just REAL.
She was hammered, in her Daisy Dukes, and a Texas Football t-shirt when she got on stage to open up for Kenny Chesney.
She said, "Y'all aren't the only ones gettin' drunk while waiting out this storm!"
Then she busted out White Liar which has become my friends' fav to blast in the car with me
Rock on, girl.

"Hey white liar, the truth comes out a little a time. And it spreads just like a fire, slips off of your tongue like turpentine. And I don't know why, white liar."

PEACE and LOVE
BAILY

"Here's a bombshell just for you, turns out I've been lying too."

And since I have blog friends from everywhere,
and because I am a proud
S O U T H E R N   G I R L
I am going to put my favorite <country> song at the moment's lyrics
on a new post above this one!
(and since my bff from home is from New York but
takes to Southern things because of ME and
I love her and I know she would appreciate this song's lyrics...
so check my next post, Mandy!)

dear mom and dad,
you know how you like to joke that
i'm one part hippie, one part country-girl?
i'd like these for my bday please.

livin' the dream

Every little Southern girl has her dreams in life. I have a lot. I want a lot. But third to a loving husband and healthy family, I want a happy home. I have a dream home. I don't just read gossip magazines and music columns, I read Southern Living and Better Homes & Gardens, too! My mom sacrificed a lot so that I could grow up in a happy home. She taught me that a loving husband, like my dad, is important. Our family cherished the health we were given. And we always had a place, a happy place, that was home. So much love was grown in that four bedroom, Floridian home.

I want horses. I believe firmly in the therapeutic cause of ponies and horses. I want to provide a place where children with disabilities can experience the boundless joy that comes from riding a horse and connecting with another one of God's beautiful creations. I want a front porch where I can sip sweet tea with my girlfriends and pose for family portraits. I want nature to surround me and remind me that there's more to life than concrete jungles and big city lights and motivate me to help protect our earth. I want a yard that sets the stage for barefoot children to dance around with their popsicle smiles in the summertime. I want fireflies and the smell of citronella candles. Worn in leather that binds the family Bible. A reading room with grandmother's quilts. White linen on a clothes line, and a red wine reminder to not sweat the small stuff. A garden and a hammock. A husband and a wife, freckle-faced kids, and the slow drawl of a family prayer before bedtime. A home, where all that love is hand-made and crafted to perfection.

Someone once told me, the best dreams are the ones that, more often than not, come true.
